Easier Method to Restore Deleted Messages

Recommend an easier way to restore deleted messages, similar to a “recycle bin” that gets emptied every 30 days or so. Currently, as I understand it, our IT Team would have to "restore" our PM server/account to an earlier state in order to recover a deleted message. In the process this would delete any messages that have been sent in the interim. Seems like there should be an easier, less disruptive way to "undelete" something.
